Studio

Mozhdeh Matin is a creative textile studio based in Lima, Peru, since 2008. The studio’s main focus is the preservation of traditional textile techniques while emphasising form and detail in design. With an innovative approach Mozhdeh has been co-creating unique pieces with local artisans in different regions of Peru for over 15 years.

Studio Practice

The studio creates collaborative capsule collections and commissions hand in hand with our clients.

The Creator

Mozhdeh Matin was born in Cajamarca (Peru) to an Iranian family. She completed her studies in Fashion and Visual Art in Bolivia and Peru. Influenced by her heritage, Mozhdeh was drawn to traditional practices of textile creation, which became the foundation of her work. Over the years, she has travelled across Peru visiting different communities of textile artisans, forging long-lasting friendships and mutual respect, where consultation and dialogue are at the center of the process of co-creation.

The history

This photo was taken in Cajamarca, one of the most important textile centers of Peru, where the practice of weaving on a backstrap loom has been present in the local culture since pre-Columbian times.
