Collaborations

With Minami Utsutsugawa

“Solstice” collection was made in collaboration with Japanese artist and textile designer Minami Otake. She created a series of graphics for the textiles based on Mozhdeh's gesture drawings. "Her drawings attracted Minami because they remarkably captured a human's weird, charming, and energetic nature. By playing around with odd yet harmonious limb shapes, exaggerating certain body lines, and introducing colors by painting and collaging over the drawings, she aimed to highlight the liveliness of the human body when turning them into textiles. I enclosed our intentions for the new age, such as the unity in diversity, in the vibrations of the graphic to give birth to a new solstice.

"Solstice" captures the essence of the summer solstice, a time when the sun shines its brightest and the days are longest, symbolizing vitality, energy, and growth. The collection reflects this with its vibrant color palette, airy fabrics, and flowing silhouettes, evoking a sense of warmth and optimism.

Working the pattern for crochet pieces

For this collection we developed new techniques, such as hand-painting and space-dyed yarns, taking it to a fresh perspective. All garments feature handmade techniques unique to each community we work with in Peru, alongside our collaborators. Handwoven fabrics are crafted in the Peruvian Andes, crochet pieces and beaded jewellery are created by the Amazonian Shipibo community in Lima.
